Monfort Earns American Player of the Week Honors

IRVING, Texas — Senior Laia Conde Monfort of The University of Tulsa women's tennis team was named the American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the week, announced today by the league. It is her second-career weekly conference honor and first of the 2023 season.
 
From Castelló, Spain, Monfort won a pair of matches at the No. 1 Singles position to help Tulsa split a pair of dual matches last week. On Saturday, she earned a 6-3, 6-2 win to lead the Golden Hurricane to a 4-0 victory over DePaul (1-4).
 
Monfort added a three-set victory (7-5, 5-7, 6-1) on Sunday that forged a 3-3 tie against Purdue before Tulsa fell 4-3. She improved to 5-2 in spring singles action with the two victories.
 
Tulsa will return home on Saturday, Feb. 11, to take on Kansas State (1-5) at 1 p.m.
