Tulsa Track to Open Outdoor Season at Shocker Spring Invitational

TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa track team is set to open the outdoor season at the Shocker Spring Invitational, hosted by Wichita State at the Heskett Center from Friday, March 24, through Saturday, March 25.

The Golden Hurricane will send 32 athletes—16 women and 16 men—to compete in 14 events. Action for TU begins on Friday with the women's 1,500-meter run at 7:30 p.m. Saturday's action for the Hurricane starts with the men's and women's 400-meter dash, with the women going first at 2:20 p.m.

Tulsa returns seven all-conference athletes from last year's outdoor squad, including Isaac Akers (1,500m, 5,000m), Christian Baker (3,000 steeplechase), Scott Beattie (5,000m), Chloe Hershenow (5,000m, 10,000m), Micheal Power (1,500m), Malte Propp (10,000m) and Layla Roebke (3,000m steeplechase, 5,000m).

In total, Tulsa's outdoor roster features 62 athletes, including 27 first-year competitors and 35 athletes from last year's roster—18 men and 17 women.

After the Shock Spring Invitational, Tulsa will wrap up the March slate at the Stanford Invitational on March 31.

In April, Tulsa will send athletes to compete in up to eight meets, including the KT Woodman Classic (Apr. 6-8), Mt. SAC Relays (Apr. 12-15), Bryan Clay Invitational (Apr.13-15), Sooner Invite and Multi's (Apr. 14-15), John McDonnell Invitational (Apr. 20-21), Payton Jordan Invitational (Apr. 21-22), Drake Relays (Apr. 27-29) and Rock Chalk Classic (Apr. 29).

TU opens May with an appearance at the Arkansas Twilight (May 5) before competing at The American Championships from May 12-14 in Tampa, Fla. The NCAA West Regionals are set for May 24-27 in Sacramento, Calif., and the NCAA Outdoor Championships will run from June 7-10 in Austin, Texas.
