TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa men's tennis team dropped an initial 2-0 lead to fall 4-2 to the No. 43 Tulane Green Wave (11-7) Friday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

The loss drops the Golden Hurricane to 7-9 on the year.

Tulsa started out strong in the match, handily winning the doubles point with a 6-0 sweep by Stefan Hampe and Ezequiel Santalla at the No. 3 position and a 6-2 decision by Connor Di Marco and Kody Pearson in the first position.

TU extended its lead to 2-0 when senior Stefan Hampe quickly closed out a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 2 position over Tulane's Luka Petrovic. Hampe coasted to victory using three game-point runs in each of his set wins to earn his seventh match of the year. He has won two of his last three head-to-head matches.

The Green Wave rattled off three straight singles victories (No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6) to jump ahead of the Hurricane 3-2. At Singles No. 4, Adham Gaber forced a third set against Tulane's Luc Hoeijman but was unable to keep the momentum, falling 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 to seal the 4-2 dual match decision for Tulane and leaving position No. 1 unfinished.

Tulsa will return to action in Norman for an in-state battle with No. 44 Oklahoma (8-7) on Sunday, March 26, at 5 p.m.
