Tulsa’s 2nd Varsity 4+ Claims Top Finish in Day 1 Against Indiana and Minnesota

Tulsa's 2nd Varsity 4+ claimed a top finish, while Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ boats finished second and the 2nd Varsity 8+ was third on the first day of racing against Indiana and Minnesota in Bloomington, Ind. The Golden Hurricane will take on both teams tomorrow in the same boats beginning at 8:30 am Central.
"I think as a whole team we are very thrilled with our results," Head Coach Brandon Campbell said. "It was windy and wavy, but the team managed the conditions very well and had a good performance all around. We're working on a strong powerful rhythm so that will be the focus tomorrow morning and we'll see if we can flip some of these results."
Anna Lackner, Julianna Lynch, Kelsey Viane, Anastasiia Ustiuzhanina and Kyra VanderWeele turned in a top time of 7:42.20 in the 2nd Varsity 4+ race, finishing ahead of Indiana (7:42.69), Minnesota (7:54.6) and the Indiana 'B' boat (7:58.15).
In the Varsity 8+ race, Isabella Musollino, Anna Shaw, Becky Coleman, Emily Bell, Karen Undset, Darya Vyrupayeva, Madlen Markova, Ermioni Lamprianidou and Johanna Kristof finished with a time of 6:33.92, just 0.79 seconds behind the Hoosiers (6:32.13), but over eight seconds ahead of the Gophers (6:42.11).
Mary Grace Wilson, Vanja Bogdanovic, Bobbi Forster, Cali Campbell and Taylor Hopkins recorded a time of 7:31.30 in the Varsity 4+ race, trailing Indiana (7:29.23) and topping Minnesota (7:49.56).
In the 2nd Varsity 8+ race, Indiana was first with a time of 6:37.20, followed by Minnesota (6:50.30) and TU (7:00.88).
