Tulsa Rowers Move into Saturday’s Finals at Sunshine State Invitational

SARASOTA, Fla. – The Tulsa rowing team put together three solid performances during the first day of competition Friday at the Sunshine State Invitational. The Hurricane competed in Heats for the Varsity 8+, 2nd Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+ at the Nathan Benderson Park.

Tulsa took first place in the Varsity 8+ heat two with a time of 6:33.80, advancing to Saturday's final race. The Hurricane finished ahead of Louisville by :03.40, while Drexel, Kansas, Old Dominion, Jacksonville and Kansas State placed from third through seventh place.

The Varsity 8+ boat consisted of Isabella Musollino, Anna Shaw, Becky Coleman, Emily Bell, Karen Undset, Darya Vyrupayeva, Madlen Markova, Ermioni Lamprianidou and Johanna Kristof.

In the 2nd Varsity 8+ race, the Hurricane finished in fourth place behind Kansas, Drexel and Louisville. Tulsa clocked a time of 6:58.98, :04.84 behind the winning KU team. The 2nd Varsity 8+ boat was raced by Paloma Probart, Robine Van Doorn, Sarolta Papp, Katherine Stenning, Ivanina Petrova, Iffy Marinos, Kristina Harris, Letizia Susenna, Helena Gutzmer.

The Varsity 4+ finished in third place with a time of 7:30.39 in heat two of seven boats, finishing behind Kansas (7:25.59) and Kansas State (7:28.04). Mary Grace Wilson, Vanja Bogdanovic, Bobbi Forster, Cali Campbell and Kyra VanderWeele raced the Varsity 4+ boat for the Hurricane.

On Saturday, Tulsa boats will race at 7 a.m., 7:40 a.m. and 9 a.m. (CT) in the finals.
