
Tulsa Wins Varsity 8+ ‘A’ and 2nd Varsity 8+ Petite Final at Sunshine State Invitational

SARASOTA, Fla. – Tulsa's Varsity 8+ boat claimed the overall title in the 'A' finale and Tulsa's 2nd Varsity 8+ boat won the Petite Final of the Sunshine State Invitational Saturday morning at the Nathan Benderson Park.
"Overall, it is a really promising set of results. There were a lot of great teams at this event, so to be this competitive is an excellent reflection of the progress the athletes have made and you can start to see the team really believing in themselves," said Tulsa Head Coach Brandon Campbell.
Tulsa's Varsity 8+ team clocked a time of 6:29.49 to out-distance second-place Miami's time of 6:31.15 by :01.66. Drexel, Louisville, Wisconsin, Michigan State, UCF and North Carolina rounded out the eight-team field. The Varsity 8+ boat consisted of Isabella Musollino, Anna Shaw, Becky Coleman, Emily Bell, Karen Undset, Darya Vyrupayeva, Madlen Markova, Ermioni Lamprianidou and Johanna Kristof.
In the 2nd Varsity 8+ Petite Final, the Hurricane also captured the victory in a time of 6:44.95, more than six seconds faster than second-place Jacksonville. The 2nd Varsity 8+ boat was raced by Paloma Probart, Robine Van Doorn, Sarolta Papp, Katherine Stenning, Ivanina Petrova, Iffy Marinos, Kristina Harris, Letizia Susenna, Helena Gutzmer.
Tulsa's Varsity 4+ placed fourth in the Grand Final with a time of 7:23.20, finishing behind Wisconsin (7:13.46), Michigan State and UCF. Mary Grace Wilson, Vanja Bogdanovic, Bobbi Forster, Cali Campbell and Kyra VanderWeele raced the Varsity 4+ boat for the Hurricane.
Tulsa will be back in action April 15 against Michigan State, Miami and Temple in East Lansing, Michigan.
