
Tulsa Earns Four First-Place Marks at Spartan Invitational

The Tulsa rowers earned four first-place finishes over Temple and Miami at the Spartan Invitational on Saturday morning on Lake Ovid at Sleepy Hollow State Park in Laingsburg, Mich.

Mary Grace Wilson, Vanja Bogdanovic, Bobbi Forster, Anastasiia Ustiuzhanina and Kyra VanderWeele raced the Varsity 4+ to two top finishes, including a nearly 20 second victory over Temple (7:52.51) with a time of 7:32.9, and then recorded a time of 7:42.2 for a 4.67 second finish ahead of Miami (7:46.87).

In the Varsity 8+, Isabella Musollino, Anna Shaw, Becky Coleman, Emily Bell, Karen Undset, Darya Vyrupayeva, Madlen Markova, Ermioni Lamprianidou and Johanna Kristof turned in a time of 6:34.3 for a 3.6 second finish ahead of Temple (6:37.90). In the second set of races for the day, Miami (6:36.1) edged past Tulsa (6:36.8) by 0.7 seconds.

Paloma Probart, Sarolta Papp, Ivanina Petrova, Katherine Stenning, Iffy Marinos, Kristina Harris, Robine Van Doorn, Helena Gutzmer and Letizia Susenna captured a top time of 6:48.7 in the 2nd Varsity 8+ to claim an almost seven second win over Temple (6:55.68) in the first set of races for the day. Miami (6:55.1) earned a two-second victory over Tulsa (6:57.1) in the final set of races.

Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, April 23 against Creighton in Omaha, Neb.
