Tulsa Golfers in Second Place Tie Heading into Wednesday’s Final Round at The American Championships

Three Tulsa golfers among top-10 individually



BROOKSVILLE, Fla. ––
Tulsa remains in second place at the American Athletic Conference Championships after turning in a second-round score of 290 on Tuesday at the par-72 Southern Hills Plantation Club.
 
Wednesday's final round has the makings of a barn burner with just seven strokes separating the top four teams.
 
Tulsa has a total score of 571, six strokes behind team leader SMU. The Mustangs are at 11-under par 565 for the tournament, while Tulsa and UCF are tied for second at 5-under par, followed by Houston at 4-under. South Florida with a 5-over par 581 total rounds out the top-5 teams after 36 holes.
 
SMU was 1-over for the day, Tulsa shot 2-over, while UCF had the best day with a 4-under par score and Houston shot even-par.
 
Going head-to-head on the course, SMU rallied to shoot 6-under par as a team on the final four holes to break an 8-under tie with Tulsa as the Hurricane went 3-over par on the final four-hole stretch.
 
Lilly Thomas jumped from 10th place to start the day into a fourth-place tie with a round of 2-under par 70, bettering her first day score by two strokes. She sits a 3-under 141 after the first two days. Thomas turned in birdies on the par-3 third and the par-5 12th hole, while shooting even-par on the other 16 holes for the day.
 
Freshman Jenni Roller and sophomore Sydney Seigel are tied for ninth place with 1-under par scores of 143. Seigel shot 1-over 73 today, while Roller had a 2-over par 74 score.
 
Sophomore Lovisa Gunnar is just one stroke back and in 13th place at even-par 144 after scoring a round of 1-over par 73. Freshman Grace Kilcrease is in 23rd place with a 147 total after shooting a score of 75 today.
 
SMU's Michelle Zhang has a four-stroke lead for individual medalist honors with a 10-over par 134 score.
