Tulsa Adds Two Titles and Meet Record to Round Out The American Outdoor Championships

TAMPA, Fla. — The University of Tulsa track team wrapped up the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships in Tampa Sunday, adding two conference titles and seven all-conference performances. The Golden Hurricane women finished fifth overall (72 points) in the team standings while the men placed sixth (85 points). Alicen Ashley was named the AAC Women's Outdoor Freshman of the Year.

"I'm proud of our women's team," said Head Coach Steve Gulley. "Considering we brought a smaller roster and finished fifth overall speaks volumes to this team's abilities on the track."

"We had banged up runners on the men's side, so our younger athletes stepping up for us was certainly a bright spot for this team. We've got a good future ahead of us."

Junior Chloe Hershenow added another championship win to her resume, this time in the 5,000-meter run. She crossed the finish line in 16:42.51 and ended the weekend as Tulsa's highest-scoring athlete (20 points). Junior Layla Roebke grabbed a third-place finish in 16:51.61. Both athletes finish championship weekend with two all-conference performances each.

Cormac Dalton had a career day on the men's side of the 5,000-meter run. The senior reached new heights with a mark of 13:40.06, setting a new personal best and breaking Tulsa All-American Patrick Dever's meet and stadium record of 13:41.68.

Placing among the top three and earning all-conference awards on Sunday were Anna Mager (400m Hurdles), Layla Roebke (5,000-meters), Chloe Hershenow (5,000-meters), Sean Korsmo (800-meters), Shay McEvoy (1,500-meters), Cormac Dalton (5,000-meters) and Scott Beattie (5,000-meters).
