Hurricane Continues to Race at NCAA West Regionals

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — University of Tulsa runners Christian Baker (3,000-meter steeplechase) and Shay McEvoy (5,000 meters) represented the Golden Hurricane Friday at the NCAA West Regionals in Sacramento. Their strong seasons come to a close as neither student-athlete qualified for the NCAA Championships.
Baker's final steeplechase of the year ended in a 9:22.92 performance for 46th place, while McEvoy clocked a 13:49.01 finish for 21st place in the 5,000-meters. Both events advanced the top 12 finishers.
A trio of Tulsa women will wrap up action in Sacramento on Saturday. Layla Roebke will kick things off in the 3,000-meter steeplechase quarterfinal at 7:40 p.m. central time. Anna Mager, who qualified in the 400-meter hurdles first round on Thursday, will race at 9:25 p.m. Chloe Hershenow will wrap up the day in the 5,000-meter semifinal at 10:10 p.m.
