•        Tulsa enters its 127th season of football in 2023 … the first year of Tulsa football, known then as Henry Kendall College, was in 1895.
•        Four AAC schools have had a football program since the 1800s … Navy has the oldest, fielding a team since 1879, followed by Tulane (1893), Temple (1894) and Tulsa (1895).
•        Tulsa has the smallest FBS enrollment with a total enrollment of 3,705 students in 2022 … Tulsa is followed by Rice, Air Force, Navy and Army for smallest enrollments.
•        Tulsa returns 43 lettermen and nine starters, 4 on offense and 5 on defense.

WHO'S HERE, QB BRAYLON BRAXTON AND SAF KENDARIN RAY …
•        The pair of Braylon Braxton and Kendarin Ray are representing Tulsa at the 2023 AAC Football Media Day event.
•        A sophomore, Braxton has played in 13 career games and started the final three games of the 2022 season for a 2-1 record as a starter … his wins came over South Florida and Houston.
•        Braxton was named honorable mention Freshman All-America by College Football News last year as a redshirt freshman.
•        He has career totals of 1,133 passing yards and 10 touchdowns and 183 rushing yards and 6 TDs.
•        Braxton became just the second freshman QB to throw for over 300 yards in a single game with 302 vs. USF … the first was T.J. Rubley with 386 yards on Sept. 5, 1987, at Oklahoma State … Braxton became the first freshman to have two 300+ passing games a week later with 316 yards at Houston.
•        SAF Kendarin Ray enters the 2023 season with 222 career tackles in 39 career games with 26 starts.
•        Ray also has 13 pass breakups, four fumble recoveries, four forced fumbles, one interception and seven 10+ tackle games in his career.
•        Ray redshirted as a true freshman in 2018 and missed half the 2021 season due to injury.

WILSON IN FIRST YEAR LEADING GOLDEN HURRICANE …
•        Kevin Wilson (North Carolina '84) was introduced as The University of Tulsa's 34th head football coach on December 6, 2022.
•        He spent the past six seasons as the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach at The Ohio State University.
•        Before his stint at Ohio State, Wilson spent six years as the Indiana head coach.

•        He also coached at Oklahoma, Northwestern, Miami (Ohio), North Carolina A&T, Winston Salem and his alma mater, North Carolina, as a graduate assistant.
•        Wilson has been a part of 13 seasons with 10 or more victories and has coached in four national championship games, including three at Oklahoma and one with Ohio State.

TULSA RANKED SIXTH IN FBS FOR CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS …
•        Tulsa has won the sixth-most conference championships among FBS schools with a total of 35 league titles.
•        Oklahoma (50), Nebraska (46), Michigan (44), Ohio State (39) and Southern Cal (37) are the only schools with more than Tulsa (35). Alabama (33), Texas (30), Fresno State (29) and Utah (28) round out the top 10 teams.
•        Tulsa has played in the Oklahoma Collegiate Conference (1914-28; 5 titles), Big Four Conference (1929-32; 3 titles), Missouri Valley Conference (1935-85; 25 titles), Western Athletic Conference (1996-2004; 0 titles), Conference USA (2005-13; 2 titles) and the American Athletic Conference (2014-present; 0 titles).
