
Volleyball’s Kayley Cassaday Earns First-Team Academic All-America Honors

TULSA, Okla. – For the second straight year, The University of Tulsa's Kayley Cassaday was selected as an Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), it was announced today.
Cassaday was named to the seven-member Academic All-America First Team for the sport of Volleyball. A year ago, Cassaday earned second-team recognition.
A 5'11" outside hitter from Overland Park, Kansas, Cassaday earned her bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering last May with a 4.0 grade point average and is now continuing her education for a master's degree in mechanical engineering.
"Kayley's discipline and her work ethic are elite, said Tulsa Head Coach Lauren Ramatowski. "She is a student-athlete who desires to be great in all aspects of her life. The way she prepares and executes each task in her day should be a model for all student-athletes."
Cassaday enjoyed a spectacular finish to her career in the fall, leading the Golden Hurricane to an 18-15 record and an appearance in the NIVC Tournament. She led the nation for kills with 632, ranked second for total attacks at 14.28 and tied for second with 5.14 kills per set. Cassaday recorded double-figure kills in all but one match and had 20+ kills in 11 matches and 30+ kills one time in 2023.
Cassaday was an AVCA honorable mention All-America selection in the fall, while also earning AVCA all-region honors.
A three-time first-team all-conference selection, Cassaday was also a four-year member of The American's all-academic team. She was also an 11-time selection to the league's weekly honor roll and was named the AAC's Offensive Player of the Week four times.
Cassaday completed her career with 1,913 career kills to rank second on the school's all-time chart.
Academic All-American is a title reserved for college student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their chosen sport and in the classroom and is selected by the College Sports Communicators.
