10/18/2024 9:41:00 PM | Volleyball

Denton, TX. —  The Golden Hurricane were unable to find victory in a four-set match that led to a win for the Mean Green of North Texas. The Hurricane, after dropping the first set, took set two before dropping sets three and four for a final score of 1-3 (12-25, 25-22, 15-25, 21-25). This makes it the third conference loss for the Hurricane as they moved to 12-7 overall, and 4-3 in the AAC. North Texas betters themselves to 5-2 in the AAC and sitting 8-10 overall.

Much of the game was dominated by North Texas, specifically in aces and blocks. North Texas was able to find 17 total team blocks with three of them being solos. They also found eight service aces to the Hurricane's three aces.

Tatum Tornatta (7), Jolana Smidolva (7), and Ari Mongare (6) also provided some of the firepower at the net. The 48 kills were not enough for the Golden Hurricane to find success in the three losing sets. However, in set two they were able to hit a match high of .190 percent.

North Texas came in with strong blocking managing to halt the attacking Hurricane. North Texas was also able to keep their attacking errors down to 16 while Tulsa struggled with 33. Standing out for North Texas was Aryn Johnson who earned a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs. The blocking front was powered by Ryann Vik, who was a part of nine block assists and one solo block.
