Tulsa Men’s Soccer Hosts Temple for Senior Night

10/31/2024 1:21:00 PM | Men's Soccer

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa men's soccer team will welcome the Temple Owls (4-6-5, 1-2-3 AAC) for Senior Night Friday in the American Athletic Conference regular-season finale under the lights of the Hurricane Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the game will stream on ESPN+.

Fans unable to attend the action in person can subscribe to ESPN+ to watch select Golden Hurricane soccer, football, tennis, volleyball, soccer, softball and basketball games. ESPN+ is offered at $10.99/month or $109.99/year. To subscribe, go to plus.espn.com. Fans will be able to access ESPN+ content only after they have subscribed.

The players to be honored before the game are Alex Lopez, Alvaro Torrijos, Camilo Vargas, John Dalby, Larsen Rogers, Will Edwards, Yuki Sekiguchi, Ty Sanchez, Ander Bengoetxea and Cooper King.

The American Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship begins next week as all league members will play final regular season games Friday and Saturday. After sitting in as low as last place in conference standings, Tulsa has the chance to grab the No. 3 seed and host an opening-round conference tournament game.

The three-seed is Tulsa's if the Hurricane wins on Friday and FIU and South Florida fall to Memphis and UAB, respectively. Tulsa can earn the No. 4 seed if the Hurricane wins and a combination of either FIU or Charlotte grab victories this week.

A win by Tulsa will, at minimum, lock up the No. 5 seed, and a loss would take playoff control out of the Hurricane's hands. TU would need to rely on losses by Florida Atlantic and UAB to grab the 6-seed should Tulsa fall to the Owls on Friday.

Finally, Tulsa would be fully eliminated from contention if the Hurricane were to lose and FAU were to beat or draw Charlotte on Saturday or if UAB defeats South Florida Friday.

This will be the 14th meeting between the Tulsa and Temple men. The Hurricane holds a slight edge in the all-time series at 5-4-4 and is 2-1-2 when hosting the Owls. Temple enters the game right behind Tulsa in conference standings with a 1-2-3 league record and a 4-6-5 overall mark.

The Owls are undefeated in their last four games, going 2-0-2 down the stretch. Last time out, Temple completed a scoreless draw in their home finale against FIU after defeating UAB in Birmingham, 1-0.

Goalkeeper Flannan Riley has had an active season, ranking first in the league for saves per game (4.63), third for save percentage .771 and fifth for total saves (37). As a team, Temple ranks first in the AAC for saves per game (4.53), shot accuracy (.455) and fouls per game (10).
