Men’s Tennis Drops 4-2 Decision to Texas Tech

LINCOLN, Neb. — The 56^th-ranked Tulsa men's tennis team took on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in a neutral dual match Saturday afternoon in Lincoln, Neb. Tulsa never had the lead, falling in a 4-2 decision in the Huskers' Dillon Tennis Center. The Golden Hurricane's losing skid extends to six as TU drops to 3-6, while the Red Raiders move to 6-5.

Tulsa opened the day with the advantage in doubles play as freshman duo Alex Okonkwo and Victor Tosetto grabbed their second win together, 6-3, at the third position. The Red Raiders would respond, however, with a 6-4 victory at the No. 1 spot and a narrow 7-6 win with a 7-5 tiebreaker in the second position to give Tech the doubles point.

In singles, the Red Raiders extended their lead to 2-0 after taking the No. 3 slot in straight sets before Okonkwo picked up a two-set win of his own, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, over Lorenzo Esquici in the second position.

The momentum was cut short as the nation's 85^th-ranked singles player escaped in three sets over Pierce Rollins at the top of the lineup to make it a 3-1 match. Adding another point to Tulsa's score was sophomore Timothy Carlsson Seger, who battled to a 7-5, 7-5 winner at No. 4 Singles. It was his third singles win in his last five matches.

Texas Tech clinched and ended the dual match at 4-2 when the Raiders' Piotr Pawlak edged Victor Tosetto in the fifth spot in three sets, 7-5, 1-6, 7-5, leaving Gus Tettamble unfinished at the No. 6 position.

Tulsa is back on the courts tomorrow to take on No. 58 Nebraska at 11 a.m.
