DES MOINES, Iowa & PALO ALTO, Calif. — The Tulsa track and field teams gained valuable experience in two big meets this week, coming away with two personal bests at the 114th Drake Relays in Des Moines Thursday through Saturday and four career marks at the Payton Jordan Invitational, hosted by Stanford Friday.

Women
Eleven competitors represented TU on the women's side at the Drake Relays. Sophomore Billie Rouse had her best performance in the 800-meter run, cruising to a career-best 2:09.26 to finish fourth in the unseeded portion of the event. Her sophomore teammate Sarah Hosey placed sixth in 2:10.75 in the seeded section of the race. Both athletes have been the Golden Hurricane's go-to for the 800-meters as each runner has raced in the event four times this outdoor season.

Other top-10 finishers included senior Elizabeth Roca taking fifth in the 400-meter dash (54.60), sophomore Alicen Ashley finishing fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:29.02) with senior teammate Katharina Pesendorfer finishing right behind at 10:29.82 for sixth.

The Tulsa women also put together a sprint medley relay, which starts with two 200-meter legs, followed by a 400-meter dash and an 800-meter stretch. Junior Kamree Dye and sophomore Raniya Laneau occupied the first two legs, while Roca handled the 400 meters and Rouse took the 800 meters. As a group, they finished seventh of 13 teams in 3:56.62.

Men
The Tulsa men put together a 4x100-meter relay team at the Drake Relays consisting of sophomore Zander Baker, senior Joshua Sutton, junior Evan Sanni-Thomas and freshman Jonathan Lee. The quartet of runners would finish 11th in 42.53.

In California, seven long-distance runners put their endurance to the test in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the 5,000-meter run. Senior Christian Baker ran his first steeplechase of the year and came away with a ninth-place finish in 8:46.63 among 14 competitors in the first of two sections in the event.

Tulsa's six runners in the 5,000 meters were evenly split into the second and third sections of the race. In the No. 3 section, junior Jaden Forester led the way with the second-place finish in a personal best mark of 14:01.56 with redshirt freshman Charlie Krasnoff right behind in third at 14:04.43 and freshman James Knockton rounding it out in 12th place with a 14:28.86 mark.

Senior Shay McEvoy enjoyed a career-best performance as the overall Tulsa leader and second-place finisher in the No. 2 section, ending his race in 13:46.18 – the 11th-best time in outdoor program history.
