Tulsa Varsity Eight Named The American Boat of the Week

IRVING, Texas –– After turning in a third-place performance at the Sunshine State Invitational last weekend, Tulsa's varsity eight boat was named the American Athletic Conference Boat of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.
 
The Hurricane raced Friday and Saturday at Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla.  Tulsa's varsity eight led Tulsa to a 6th-place overall performance with 99 points in the Benderson Cup rankings at the prestigious Sunshine State event.
 
The varsity eight's third-place time in the grand final was 6:36.49, trailing first-place Miami's time of 6:33.69 and Iowa at 6:34.95. The Hurricane edged out UCF, Boston College, Michigan State, North Carolina and Drexel.
 
Representing Tulsa in the varsity eight were Isabella Musollino (coxswain), Anna Shaw, Robine Van Doorn, Darya Vyrupayeva, Madlen Markova, Emily Bell, Iffy Marinos, Kristina Harris and Johanna Kristof.
 
V8 Grand Final Standings:
1. Miami 6:33.69; 2. Iowa 6:34.95; 3. Tulsa 6:36.49; 4. UCF 6:39.19; 5. Boston College 6:42.41; 6. Michigan State 6:44.17; 7. UNC 6:45.17; 8. Drexel 6:46.81
