Tulsa Track and Field Teams See Success at Arkansas Spring Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Tulsa track and field teams saw 21 student-athletes compete in the Arkansas Spring Invitational on the John McDonell Field on the Arkansas campus Saturday and came away with four first-place finishes, nine podium finishes and 13 new personal bests.
Women
Sophomore Alicen Ashley got her first outdoor win of the season with a 4:38.73 mark in the 1,500-meter run. The reigning American Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Freshman of the Year outraced 19 other competitors in the non-invitational version of the event.
Tulsa had four race in the women's 800-meters and saw two made the podium, including sophomores Sarah Hosey and Billie Rouse. Hosey finished second in 2:13.09, and Rouse took third in 2:15.65. In the same event, sophomore Christian Gregory placed 10th in 2:19.67 while freshman Anastasia Small finished 16th in 2:22.52. Hosey, Rouse and Small all set new personal bests along the way.
Senior Elizabeth Roca and junior Kamree Dye each enjoyed career performances in the 400-meter dash with Roca claiming third place with a mark of 54.34 while Dye took ninth in 58.45.
In her first career outdoor 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Lianne Holtermann outpaced eight other runners for a first-place finish of 1:04.84. It's the first career win for the Arnhem, Netherlands, product.
Men
On the men's side, junior Evan Sanni-Thomas had himself another strong performance in the 400-meters, this time finishing ahead of 24 total runners in 48.31 for first place. Freshman Jayden Williams (51.52) and sophomore Zander Baker (52.01) each enjoyed new personal bests in the event.
In his return to the track, senior Josh Sutton registered a 10.53 mark in the 100-meters, good for 18th place. He was also a leg in Tulsa's 4x100-meter relay squad that finished seventh overall in 42.41.
