Tulsa Golfers Tied for 3rd Place After NCAA Regional Opening Round

Seigel and Kilcrease among top-10 individually
AUBURN, Ala. –– Tulsa women golfers finished first round play at the NCAA Auburn Regional Monday in a three-way tie for third place. The Hurricane carded a 10-over par 298 and is tied with the nation's 14th-ranked Oregon Ducks and Houston at the par-72, 6,456-yard Auburn University Club course.
Two Tulsa golfers are among the top-10 individuals as junior Sydney Seigel shot an even-par 72 for fifth place, while sophomore Grace Kilcrease is one stroke back with an eighth-place score of 73. Seigel scored two birdies and two bogeys for her even par round. After birdies on holes 13 and 16, Kilcrease bogeyed her final two holes to go from 1-under to 1-over par for the day.
Host and seventh-ranked Auburn leads the field with a 2-over par 290, while No. 2-ranked South Carolina sits at 5-over par 293 for second place. Rounding out the 12 teams were sixth-place North Carolina (300), Miami (305), Georgia (306), East Tennessee State (308), Michigan (311), Kennesaw State (317) and Albany (321).
Tulsa junior Lovisa Gunnar carded an opening round 4-over par 76 for 26th place, while one stroke separates 34th-place Jenni Roller and 41st-place Allyn Stephens. After a first-hole triple bogey, Gunnar gathered herself and hit a birdie putt on hole No. 2. She finished with two more birdies and four bogeys on the day. Roller shot a round of 77 and Stephens carded a score of 78 after the first 18 holes.
Second round action takes place Tuesday with the final round set for Wednesday. The top-5 teams will advance to the NCAA Championship, May 17-22, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
