TULSA, Okla. —
The first home action of the year for the Golden Hurricane volleyball team kicks off this week with the Tulsa Volleyball Invitational in the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Five matches will take place on the Hurricane court as TU will take on No. 22 Arkansas (7-0), Stephen F. Austin (5-2) and Oklahoma (3-1) on Thursday and Friday and will host two neutral matches for Stephen F. Austin as the Lumberjacks take on Arkansas and Oklahoma, a pair of SEC programs who will not play each other this week.

Tulsa will battle the nationally ranked Razorbacks first on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 6:30 p.m. Then, the Hurricane will play the Lumberjacks (11 a.m.) and Sooners (6:30 p.m.) on Friday.

All three of Tulsa's matches will stream on ESPN+. Fans unable to attend the action in person can subscribe to ESPN+ to watch select Golden Hurricane volleyball, soccer, football, tennis, soccer, softball and basketball games. ESPN+ is offered at $10.99/month or $109.99/year. To subscribe, go to plus.espn.com. Fans will be able to access ESPN+ content only after they have subscribed.

A 2023 NCAA quarterfinalist, Arkansas is undefeated to start the season at 7-0 with four consecutive sweeps last week in the Wooo Pig Invitational at home over Rutgers, Wichita State, Louisiana Tech and Little Rock.

Thursday will be the 16th meeting between Tulsa and Arkansas, a series that dates back to Tulsa's inaugural season in 1976. The Razorbacks lead Tulsa 10-5 with wins in the last five meets. Tulsa fell in three sets to Arkansas a year ago in Fayetteville and last beat the Hogs in 2008 in a 3-2 thriller.

Stephen F. Austin, also a 2023 NCAA tournament participant, is off to a 5-2 start. The Lumberjacks started the year 4-0 and then had a 1-2 showing last week at UTEP's Borderlands Invitational.

Friday marks the 12th meeting between TU and SFA and the fourth meeting since 2021. The Lumberjacks lead the series by one at 6-5. Tulsa is 1-2 at home against Stephen F. Austin and will look to grab its first win over the Jacks since 2016.

A match with the nearby Oklahoma Sooners will wrap up the tournament Friday night. OU finished 11-17 last season and is off to a 3-1 start to the 2024 season after beating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Drake and Omaha all in a pair of tournaments in Nebraska.

It will be the 38th all-time meeting between the two programs. OU has defeated Tulsa 35 times and took last year's match in a reverse sweep, 3-2, in Norman. TU looks for its first victory over the Sooners since 2011.

Senior libero Marta Pecalli is off to a strong defensive start for her final year with the Golden Hurricane. Through two weeks, Pecalli ranks 14th in the nation for aces (15) and is 22nd for total digs (115) and digs per set (5.00). She leads The American in aces, digs and aces per set (0.65) so far. Also leading the conference is senior middle blocker Tytiana Johnson, who boasts a 1.35 blocks-per-set average and ranks second in the league with 27 total blocks.
