IRVING, Texas — Tulsa setter Brayden Hipp has been selected as the American Athletic Conference Setter of the Week, announced Monday by the league. It's the first weekly award for the junior from Fort Myers, Fla.

Hipp is the first Golden Hurricane setter to earn a top weekly conference honor since Roosa Rautio (2019-21) took home the league's Offensive Player of the Week award during the COVID season on March 1, 2021.

Hipp coordinated an excellent offensive effort that pushed TU to a strong 2-1 showing last week at the Tulsa Volleyball Invitational at home. In wins over No. 22 Arkansas and Stephen F. Austin and a tight 3-2 setback to Oklahoma, she averaged 5.50 assists and 2.86 digs per set and recorded double-doubles in all three matches. Hipp peaked with 31 assists and 15 digs against the Razorbacks, leading Tulsa to its second program win ever over a nationally-ranked opponent.

Tulsa will conclude the nonconference schedule with a pair of matches at the Jayhawk Classic on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21, in Lawrence, Kan. The Hurricane will face No. 10 Kansas on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and wrap up the tournament Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. against No. 6 Purdue.
