Tulsa in 10th After First Round of Schooner Fall Classic

NOMRAN, Okla. –– The Tulsa women's golfers carded a 287 on Saturday to finish +7 and in 10th place after the first round of the Schooner Fall Classic at the Belmar Golf Club in Norman. 
 
Auburn leads the pack after a seven under opening round. Houston (-4), TCU (-3) and Iowa State (-1) are all under par after the opening round. Wisconsin (+2), Oklahoma (+3), Florida State (+4), Tulane (+5) and North Texas (+6) are all within striking distance for Tulsa.
 
Tulsa's golfers opened the Classic on the 10th hole. Senior Sydney Seigel was even through the first round to lead the Hurricane. She began with a birdie and finished her front nine even with a pair of birdies and bogeys. After the turn, Siegel got back under par with a birdie on the par four second hole and recorded a bogey on the par three eighth to finish square and in a multi-way tie for 16th.
 
Lovisa Gunnar and Allyn Stephens are both +2 and tied for 37th after 18 holes. Gunnar finished one-over on the front nine with a pair of bogeys and a birdie. She birdied twice on her final nine holes, but also shot a five on three-straight par fours. Stephens bogeyed on three of her four par threes, as well as the par four 16th. She also picked up birdies on 10 and 3 to shoot 72.
 
Hanna Robinett finished a stroke behind the Gunnar and Stephens with a +3, 73. This was her first round of the season. She recorded a team-high five birdies on the day. Jennifer Roller shot +4 on Saturday. Her lone birdie was on the 402-yard par four hole No. 7.
 
Norah Seidl, competing as an independent, shot a 77 (+7). She recorded six birdies, the most by any TU golfer, but a couple of difficult holes led to a higher score.   
 
The Schooner Classic will continue on Sunday and finish Monday with 18 holes each day.
