Baylor Hayes completed 20 of 31 passes for 267 yards and one touchdown. Dominic Richardson carried the ball 28 times, amassing a career-high 203 rushing yards and scoring one touchdown, leading the ground attack. With this performance, Richardson became the 23rd player at TU to rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season. Josh Smith contributed through the air with three receptions for 50 yards and one touchdown. On defense, Ray Coney led the team with 13 tackles, increasing his season total of tackles to 117.
Â
Tulsa began the first quarter strong, executing a swift 75-yard drive that culminated in a 3-yard touchdown run by Richardson at 12:23, giving Tulsa a 7–0 lead. Army quickly responded, with Cale Hellums rushing 31 yards for a touchdown at 11:34, tying the game 7–7.
Â
Tulsa extended its lead early in the second quarter with Ajay Allen's 7-yard touchdown run, making the score 14–7. The Black Knights responded with a lengthy 14-play drive, culminating in Hellums' 5-yard touchdown run and a successful two-point conversion, taking a 15-14 lead. With less than a minute remaining in the half, Hellums found the end zone again, this time on a 5-yard run, putting Army ahead 22–14, heading into halftime.
Â
In the third quarter, Army extended their lead, starting with a 33-yard field goal by Jones at the 7:03 mark, bringing the score to 25-14. The Golden Hurricane then attempted to respond with a 54-yard drive, highlighted by a 20-yard rush from Richardson, but Hayes' fumble at the Army 14 was recovered by Eric Ford, ending the threat. On Army's subsequent possession, Hellums managed a few short gains, but Tulsa's defense held firm, forcing a punt.
Â
In the fourth quarter, Tulsa mounted a comeback beginning with a 48-yard field goal by Morgan at 4:17, narrowing the deficit to 25–17. Shortly thereafter, Lento Smith Jr. intercepted a pass from Hellums, setting up a crucial Tulsa drive. Richardson's 12-yard rush moved Tulsa into the red zone, and Hayes connected with Smith for an 8-yard touchdown pass with 1:53 remaining, though the two-point conversion attempt failed, leaving the score 25–23.
Â
Tulsa's defense came up big, stopping Army on four straight plays to get the ball back with under two minutes to play in the game. Tulsa drove down the field and Morgan then delivered a clutch 27-yard field goal with 12 seconds remaining, giving Tulsa a narrow 26–25 victory.
