A Homestand Against Teams from North Carolina
  • Tulsa is back in the Donald W. Reynolds Center this weekend as the Golden Hurricane hosts 7th-place Charlotte and 11th-place East Carolina for more American Conference action.
  • TU faces the 49ers first on Friday, November 7, at 6:00 p.m. and ends the weekend with a showdown against East Carolina on Sunday, November 9, at 1 p.m.

Best Record in Over a Decade
  • The 18-6 Golden Hurricane currently hold the best overall record after 24 matches since 2013, when TU started 20-4.
  • Tulsa's 17-3 record after 20 matches was the best since 2010, when TU started 20-2 and finished 31-3 and 20-0 in conference play with a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
  • An 8-4 start to conference play is TU's best showing through 12 matches since 2018 (9-3)
  • Before the 5-set loss to Rice, TU's 11-match winning streak was tied for the 5th longest in the NCAA.
  • Tulsa went 10-1 in the month of September, 7-2 in October, won 18 of their last 22 matches this season, and have emerged victorious in 21 of their last 29 outings dating back to the end of last year.
 
Best RPI in Team History
  • The first NCAA Volleyball RPI came out on October 6, and the Golden Hurricane were ranked 43rd out of 348 teams in the country - the best RPI TU has ever received in program history.
  • Tulsa is currently #55 entering this weekend's action, the third-highest RPI in the American.
  • In the American, South Florida is #28 and Rice is #39. Rice edged Tulsa 3-2 in Houston last month and Tulsa fell in three sets at South Florida last weekend.
  • The Golden Hurricane are 5-2 against RPI 51-100 teams, 5-5 against top 100 teams, 13-1 against 101+ teams, and 13-0 against sub-150 squads.
 
Ramatowski Reaches 50 Wins Against UAB
  • Third-year Head Coach Lauren Ramatowski surpassed 50 career wins in her 79th match in the home sweep over UAB on Oct. 10.
  • She is the sixth Tulsa head coach to accomplish that feat and the fifth-fastest to reach that mark.
  • She's currently 54-32 (.628) entering this weekend's action.
  • Ramatowski also surpassed 18 wins this season. She's now hit that mark in all three seasons leading the Golden Hurricane.
 
Facing the Charlotte 49ers
  • Friday will be just the fourth all-time match between Tulsa and Charlotte.
  • Tulsa is currently undefeated at 3-0 against the 9ers.
  • All matches so far have been played in Charlotte and all have ended in 3-1 wins for TU.
  • The 49ers are on a four-match losing streak, sitting at 15-9 overall and 6-6 in the league for seventh place.
  • Charlotte boasts a strong defense, which leads the American with 2.37 blocks per set.
  • Jovana Antic leads the league with 1.22 blocks per set, while Charlotte libero Annika Thompson is the league leader in digs at 5.16 per set.
 
Scouting the East Carolina Pirates
  • This will be the 29th all-time matchup between Tulsa and East Carolina.
  • TU has absolutely dominated the all-time series, leading 25-3 entering Sunday's action.
  • Tulsa has won 9 of the last 10 meetings with ECU's only recent win coming in a 3-1 decision in 2022.
  • ECU has struggled in conference play, starting the year at 8-3 in non-conference action before dropping nine of their last 12 matches in conference season.
  • Their current three-match losing streak has them at 11-12 overall and 3-9 in the American Conference.
  • The Pirates ranked fourth in the league for aces per set (1.56) and fifth for (blocks per set (2.20).
 
National and Conference Stat Rankings
  • After 10 weeks of volleyball, here's where Tulsa stacks up on the individual and team level in the American and the national stat rankings.
  • Senior setter Brayden Hipp is atop the league with 9.85 assists per set and owns the most total assists with 837. Her total assists mark is 40th in the country.
  • Hipp's 60-assist performance in the victory at Memphis last week is tied for the 16th-most assists in a 5-set match nationwide.
  • Her 44-assist showing at UAB last week is the 18th-most assists by a single player in a 3-set match in the country.
  • Hipp also has the most Conference Setter of the Week awards so far with four.
  • True freshman middle Jill Hanson is first in the American with a .399 hitting percentage. She peaked with .889 (8-0-9) against Cleveland State and has hit over .500 in 11 matches this season.
  • In hitting percentage, Hanson is the #1 freshman in the conference, #2 freshman in the country and ranked 27th overall in the nation.
  • Hanson is currently No. 9 on the league's blocking list with 1.01 blocks per set.
  • Junior libero Lauren Patterson is holding steady at seventh in the American for digs (318) and digs per set (3.74).
  • As a team, Tulsa leads the American Conference in assists per set (13.11), hitting percentage (.265) and kills per set (14.02).
  • TU is 14th in the nation for assists per set, 15th in kills per set, 24th in digs per set (16.35) and 25th in hitting percentage.
 
Tulsa Thriving on Balanced Attack
  • Tulsa has six players currently averaging between 2-3 kills per set. Any one of them can lead the team in kills for any given match.
  • Leading is senior outside Olivia Vance with 2.85 per set followed by senior outside Beth Bayless at 2.63.
  • Senior outside Lauren Eitler is third at 2.53 per set with senior middle Kat Cooper managing 2.41 kills per set.
  • Freshman middle Jill Hanson Freshman currently has 2.15 kills, while outside hitter Maegan Mills averages 2.06 kills per set.
  • Much of this is due to brilliant passing by senior setter Brayden Hipp, who's been distributing the ball evenly through nine weeks of play.
 
Everyone's Digging It
  • The defense has also been balanced for the Golden Hurricane.
  • Four players average two or more digs per set, with junior libero Lauren Patterson ranking seventh in the conference with 3.74 digs per set.
  • Senior setter Brayden Hipp has 2.87 digs, while senior outside Lauren Eitler averages 2.78 and sophomore setter Brittany Bacorn currently records 2.60 digs.
