FRISCO, Texas – Former University of Tulsa great, Nancy Lopez, was inducted into the PGA of America 2025 Hall of Fame Class with an induction ceremony at the Omni PGA Frisco Resort during the 109th PGA Annual Meeting in Frisco, Texas.
A world-class golfer, Nancy Lopez won 11 of 19 tournaments in her two seasons playing for the Golden Hurricane. She won six as a freshman including the AIAW National Championship. She led Tulsa to runner-up finishes at the AIAW National Tournament as a freshman and sophomore and tied for second at the U.S. Women's Open Championship in 1975.
She was a first-team All-America selection in 1976 and '77 and as a rookie on the LPGA Tour, she won five consecutive tournaments and was selected as the 1978 LPGA Player of the Year. Lopez won over 30 LPGA titles during her career and was inducted into the LPGA Hall of Fame in 1989. She was inducted into the Tulsa Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the 1991 Hall of Fame Class.
Lopez has a long history of breaking records. In 1978, she was LPGA Rookie of the Year, Player of the Year and won the Vare Trophy for scoring average: She is still the only woman to capture all three honors in the same season.
Today, the World Golf Hall of Famer's influence remains strong through her company Nancy Lopez Golf, helping women learn the game and feel more comfortable on the golf course.
She won the New Mexico Amateur when she was 12 and that's just when she was getting started. Let's go through just some – we can't do them all, there isn't enough time or space – of her accomplishments:
