Tulsa Falls to Creighton, 73-60

OMAHA, Neb. — Tulsa (6-3) fell to the Creighton (4-4), 73-60, at D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha, as the Bluejays outscored the Golden Hurricane by 20 points in the first half. Tulsa's defense forced 18 turnovers, translating into 20 points off those mistakes.
Junior guard Mady Cartwright led the way with 19 points for the Golden Hurricane, while redshirt senior forward Hannah Riddick earned her second double-double of the young season with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The game commenced with Creighton taking an early lead, largely driven by Grace Boffeli's scoring in the paint. Ava Zediker's layup at 7:31, followed by a successful free throw, put the Bluejays up 7-0. The Golden Hurricane struggled from the field initially, with Haven Fisher finally connecting on a three-pointer at 5:32 to get them on the board. Creighton maintained their advantage through efficient shooting, including a three-pointer by Zediker with 1:03 left, extending their lead. The quarter closed with a jumper from Allison Heathcock, giving the Bluejays a 24-10 lead.
Creighton maintained control in the second quarter, outscoring Tulsa by six points. Zediker led Creighton with two three-pointers, including one at the 5-second mark, to widen their lead to 47-27. Neleigh Gessert also contributed significantly with two 3-pointers, adding to Creighton's offensive momentum. For the Golden Hurricane, Dora Toman scored a three-pointer and assisted on another to keep the visitors in contention, while Mady Cartwright added a late layup in the final seconds. Zediker contributed significantly with assists on multiple 3-pointers, including a key shot by Heathcock at 0:54 that extended Creighton's lead to 13 points. Tulsa's effort was led by Riddick, who scored multiple times in the paint and on free throws, but the team struggled to close the gap. Despite a late 3-pointer from Cartwright, the Golden Hurricane could not overcome Creighton's efficient shooting and ball movement.
