TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa men's tennis team welcomed New Mexico State Friday for a doubleheader in the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, dominating in a 7-0 sweep in the afternoon and wrapping up with a 4-0 shutout in the evening over the Aggies. The Golden Hurricane snaps a three-match losing streak and evens up its record at 5-5.

Both teams elected to play out all matches in the afternoon dual match, giving all players a chance to grab a win. Tulsa swept the doubles matches, which included a 7-6 (7-1) finish by redshirt sophomore Gus Tettamble and freshman Connor Doig in their first match together in the No. 3 spot.

Five of six Hurricane players needed only two sets to close out their victories. Sophomore Alex Okonkwo erased a one-set deficit with a 6-3 set two win and a 10-6 third set.

Later in the day, both programs engaged in a clinch match. Tulsa grabbed the doubles point with winners in the second and third spots, clinched by redshirt freshman Calum Jestin and redshirt junior Will Pellegrini, 6-2. Okonkwo and junior Timothy Carlsson Seger left their match unfinished at 5-3 in the No. 1 position.

Straight-set winners by junior Luis Felipe Miguel, Okonkwo and junior Reiya Komagata in the first, second and fifth lines. Clinching the dual match at 4-0 and ending the day's action was Okonkwo with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Tobias Wallin.

The Tulsa men will host a neutral match between New Mexico State and Illinois State at 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, and will follow with a 2 p.m. showdown with the Red Birds.
