Tulsa to Face No. 20 Oklahoma State in Norman Regional on May 2
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Tulsa women's tennis team is going dancing after receiving an at-large bid to the 2025 NCAA Women's Tennis Championship. It marks the program's 15th appearance in the Big Dance and 13th under 20-year Head Coach Dean Orford.
The Golden Hurricane will take on No. 20 Oklahoma State (19-7) in first-round action on Friday, May 2, in Norman, Okla., with the winner taking on Denver (12-9) or the regional host, tournament's sixth seed and nationally fourth-ranked Oklahoma (19-6) in the second round on Saturday the third.
Super regionals are slated for the weekend of May 9-11, and the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship match will be hosted by Baylor in Waco, Texas, on May 15-18.
TU returns to the Big Dance for the first time since 2018, where the Hurricane advanced to the Sweet 16 and finished the season ranked 19th in the nation.
Six Tulsa players saw postseason success a year ago when the Hurricane won the second annual UTR Sports NIT Championship in Bradenton, Fla., surviving for three rounds against tough squads to bring home the program's first national title.
Tulsa is 19-8 overall this season after going 10-3 at home, 5-3 on the road and 4-2 in neutral settings. The Hurricane had a 6-0 start to the year and put together victories during the season over Arkansas, SMU, TCU, Rice, Wichita State, Florida Atlantic and Memphis.
The Hurricane also had a fantastic run in the American Athletic Conference Championship that included a 4-3 upset victory over the top seed and then-27th-ranked Florida Atlantic Owls before an untimely exit in the final against Memphis.
