MIDLAND, Mich. –– Allyn Stephens made a remarkable debut in her first LPGA Tour event, representing the University of Tulsa at the Dow Championship.
In a unique event on the LPGA Tour, the Dow Championship adopted a team format. Stephens partnered with fellow amateur Bailey Davis for the competition. A noteworthy aspect of the tournament was that the first round was played using an alternate shot format, while the second round utilized a four-ball format, also known as best ball.
The competition took place at Midland Country Club, where an amateur duo competed against the best players of the LPGA.
On the first day of competition, the duo played in the alternate shot format and recorded a score of 2-over par, finishing with a round of 72. They improved their performance on the second day, completing the round at one-under par with a score of 69. After the first 36 holes, their cumulative score was one-over par.
The team was the top amateur finisher in the event, outperforming several professional teams.
