Gunnar Receives American Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award

IRVING, Texas –– The American Conference announced today the league's Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipients for the 2024-25 academic year. Lovisa Gunnar was selected as the scholar-athlete of the year for women's golf.
Gunnar is the first Golden Hurricane to win this award since 2022-23 when Lilly Thomas won the award.
Gunnar, from Linkoping, Sweden, has maintained a 3.866 GPA in sociology. She helped lead her team to the American Conference Championship for the first time since 2021 and the 21st NCAA Regional appearance in program history.
Gunnar received her third CSC Academic All-District honor in 2025. She has also been recognized with all-conference honors for the past two seasons and finished tied for third at the AAC Championship. This season, she achieved four top 20 finishes, including two in the top 10.
Over her career at TU, Gunnar played in 43 career events and had 20 top 25 performances. She placed in the top 10 eight times and had a career average 73.9 career stroke average in 123 rounds of collegiate golf.
