TULSA, Okla. — The Golden Hurricane volleyball team returned to the court Friday to officially begin coach-led preseason workouts and practices for the 2025 season, which kicks off at the University of Wyoming on August 29 in the Cowgirls' Rumble in the Rockies tournament.
Head Coach Lauren Ramatowski is back for her third season in leading the Golden Hurricane as she looks to capitalize on back-to-back 18-win seasons to start her career. Ramatowski's staff includes third-year assistant and recruiting coordinator Jacey Smith, second-year assistant Kennedy Warren and graduate assistant Macy Blackburn.
Tulsa returns four letterwinners, including three veteran starters from last year's roster entering their senior seasons. They are outside hitters Beth Bayless and Lauren Eitler and setter Brayden Hipp. Sophomore setter Brittany Bacorn rounds out the returners on the 2025 roster.
Bayless finished her junior season a year ago with 2.47 points, 2.22 kills and 1.75 digs per set in 92 sets across all 29 matches. She put away 10 double-figure kill contests and came away with six double-digit dig matches and three double-doubles.
Eitler starred in 96 sets across 28 matches played last season, ending the year with 1.06 points, 0.74 kills and 2.02 digs per stanza. She earned two double-doubles, one against Sam Houston (13 kills/12 digs) and the other in a career game against No. 22 Arkansas, helping TU earn its second win ever over a ranked opponent with 10 kills and 21 digs.
Hipp has improved in every season of her career and looks to continue building on her consistent play after serving as TU's starting setter last season. The two-time American Conference Setter of the Week started and played in all 105 sets in 29 matches, averaging 6.45 assists and 2.89 digs per set. She went on to end the year with 17 matches with 20+ assists, seven 30+ contests, 17 double-figure dig showings and 17 double-doubles.
Bacorn got in the rotation for 90 sets in 25 matches from last year. As Tulsa's second-best setter, she put up 3.8 assists and 1.88 digs as a true freshman. On defense, she finished with three double-digit dig matches, helping her end the year with three double-doubles.
The Golden Hurricane welcomes four transfer players to the roster in 2025. The TU coaching staff hit the transfer portal this offseason and signed San Diego State senior middle Kat Cooper (Springdale, Ark.), James Madison outside junior Olivia Vance (Bixby, Okla.), Loyola Marymount senior libero Lauren Patterson (Portland, Ore.) and Iowa Western Community College junior libero Quinn Swofford (Branson, Mo.).
The six true freshmen ready to don the Blue and Gold for the first time this year are setter Meg Goodwin (Tulsa, Okla.), middle blocker Jill Hanson (San Antonio, Texas), libero Milee Jackson (Tulsa, Okla.) and hitters Kylee McCoy (Royse City, Texas), Maegan Mills (Topeka, Kan.) and Ava Steffe (Frisco, Texas).
TU will begin its 28-match season on Friday, August 29, at 7:30 p.m. against Wyoming in the Cowgirls' Rumble in the Rockies, where the Golden Hurricane will also face off against Colorado and Cleveland State.
Tulsa's first home action in the Donald W. Reynolds Center will once again be the Tulsa Volleyball Invitational on September 19-20.
