Men's Tennis Opens Spring Season With Set of Doubleheaders

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa men's tennis team is set to begin their spring season with a long weekend set of double headers. On Friday, Jan. 16, the Golden Hurricane will face off against Florida Gulf Coast (0-2) at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and on Monday, Jan. 19, Tulsa will match up with UTRGV at 10 a.m. and Arkansas at 6 p.m, all hosted at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

- FGCU and Tulsa have never met in men's tennis.
- The Eagles are coming off a 4-0 loss to UCF and a 4-3 loss to Louisiana last weekend.
- Tulsa and UTRGV have faced off twice in program history, in 1989 and 2009, with Tulsa taking both matches.
- The Vaqueros are 0-2 entering the weekend, having lost to Arkansas and Rice to start the season. They have matches with Saint Joseph's, Oklahoma State and Saint Louis scheduled before traveling to Tulsa.
- Monday marks the 29th meeting between the teams, dating back to 1977. The Razorbacks lead the series narrowly 15-14.
- The teams met in the 2025 opening weekend as well, with Tulsa taking the match in a close 4-3 win.
- Arkansas is 2-0 on the season, beating Rice and UTRGV in a double header on Jan. 10, 5-2 and 6-1, respectively. Arkansas has matchups against Florida Gulf Coast and Oral Roberts scheduled prior to their meeting with Tulsa this upcoming Monday.
- Among the nine-man roster, Tulsa is returning six members from the 2024-25 squad.
- Returning for the Golden Hurricane are senior Timothy Carlsson-Seger, sophomore Connor Doig, redshirt sophomore Calum Jestin, senior Reiya Komagata, redshirt junior Gus Tettamble and junior Victor Tosetto.
- The three newcomers are freshman Ruben Fernandez and transfers Takeshi Taco (Gr., Valdosta State) and Nikita Volonski (Jr., Grand Canyon University).
