TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa (12-6, 4-2 American) fell to Rice (16-3, 6-0 American), 78-66, at the Donald W. Reynolds Center Tuesday night, snapping a 10-game home win streak for the Golden Hurricane. Despite 12 lead changes throughout the contest, the Owls benefitted from a 50-32 rebounding advantage to run away with the win.

Redshirt senior forward Hannah Riddick led the Golden Hurricane with 22 points fueled by nine field goals made, while junior guard Mady Cartwright finished with 19 points and went 8-for-9 from the free throw line.

The first quarter commenced with Rice taking an early lead as Dominique Ennis drained a 3-pointer at 8:34. The Golden Hurricane responded with a series of buckets, including a jumper and layup from Hannah Riddick, to close the gap. A defensive steal and coast-to-coast finish by Abby Jegede at 5:41 shifted momentum to Tulsa, making it 6-5 in their favor. The home team maintained pressure, with Riddick scoring two more layups, helping them end the quarter ahead, 17-13.

In the second quarter, Rice overcame an early deficit with a layup by Ennis at 9:52, equalizing the score at 17-17. Ennis continued to impact the game by knocking down a jumper and a 3-pointer, contributing to a 22-17 lead. Tulsa's Dora Toman responded with a jumper and later sank two free throws to narrow the gap to 26-24. Rice's Hailey Adams was pivotal, scoring multiple times, including a jumper at 3:07, extending Rice's lead to 28-24. The Golden Hurricane's Layla-J Cameron tied the game at 30-30 with a fast-break layup at 00:30. However, Victoria Flores of Rice secured the lead with two free throws at 00:13, ending the quarter with Rice ahead, 32-30.

Rice outscored Tulsa 25-18 in the third quarter to extend their lead. Tulsa's Mady Cartwright drilled a 3-pointer at 9:01 to break a tie, but Rice's Aniah Alexis quickly responded with a layup, maintaining a close contest. Ennis contributed with a key 3-pointer at 5:33, pushing Rice ahead. Despite Tulsa's efforts, including a layup and free throw by Cartwright at 3:23, Rice maintained control with Alexis' fast-break layup at 2:39 and a 3-pointer shortly afterwards, securing their advantage heading into the final quarter.

Rice secured a 78-66 victory over Tulsa, holding off a late push by the home team. Shelby Hayes opened the fourth quarter with a layup and added a pair of free throws, contributing significantly to Rice's early momentum. Adams and Ennis also made key baskets, with Ennis sinking two 3-pointers, including one at 2:53, extending Rice's lead. Cartwright kept the game competitive with consistent free-throw shooting, while Riddick contributed with several layups. Despite Tulsa's efforts, Rice maintained control, thanks to crucial defensive rebounds and free throw conversions in the final minute.
