DENTON, Texas — Tulsa fell to North Texas 72-67 in a tightly contested match up at Super Pit on Sunday. The game featured nine ties and 14 lead changes, with Tulsa leading by one at halftime. North Texas secured the win with a strong second half, outscoring Tulsa 45-39, to end Tulsa's 10-game winning streak, the programs longest since the 2014-15 season.
David Green led Tulsa with 19 points, recording seven field goals and adding two blocks. Tylen Riley contributed 11 points and recorded five assists, complementing his four rebounds. Miles Barnstable added 12 points, converting all seven of his free throw attempts and collecting five rebounds. Ade Popoola scored nine points, including two 3-pointers, and added two rebounds.
The contest began with both teams exchanging early baskets, maintaining a close score throughout the half. Popoola contributed significantly, including a 3-pointer at the 7:48 mark, to help his team edge ahead. North Texas countered with Reece Robinson's tip-in and Dylan Arnett's consistent scoring in the paint. Tulsa's Romad Dean extended their lead with a late dunk, but Demarion Watson's 3-pointer for North Texas narrowed the gap to 28-27 by halftime.

Despite Tulsa's efforts, including Green's fast-break 3-pointer with 2:37 remaining, North Texas sealed the game with free throws from David Terrell Jr. in the final seconds.
The Golden Hurricane return home to host South Florida on Saturday, January 10 at 2 p.m. in the Reynolds Center.
