STILLWATER, Okla. – Tulsa (7-6) battled in-state foe Oklahoma State (7-2) in a match that featured tight doubles courts, with the Cowboys ultimately securing the team victory.

At the top doubles position, Nicolas Kobelt and Aaron Williams edged Calum Jestin and Connor Doig, 6-4, in a match that hinged on a late break. Tulsa responded at No. 2, where Nikita Volonski and Timothy Carlsson Seger played composed down the stretch, earning a 6-3 win over Derek Pham and Charlie Valentine to even the doubles race.

That left the point to be decided on court three. Victor Tosetto and Gus Tettamble pushed Alessio Basile and Ian Bracks to a tiebreak, but OSU narrowly escaped 7-6 (8-6) to claim the doubles point and a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

Oklahoma State extended its lead at No. 3 in singles, where Nicolas Kobelt earned a 6-1, 6-4 win over Takeshi Taco. Shortly after, Alessio Basile added another point at the top spot, defeating Volonski 6-3, 6-3 to put the Cowboys firmly in control.

At No. 6, Haydar Gokpinar secured a 6-3, 6-2 win over Tosetto, and at No. 5, Ian Bracks pulled away late for a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Doig.

Court four proved one of the tighter contests of the evening. After dropping the opening set 6-0, Ruben Fernandez rebounded to force a second-set tiebreak, but Aaron Williams held steady to close it out 7-6 (9-7).

The final match to finish came at No. 2. Pham claimed the first set 7-5, Seger answered with a 7-5 second set of his own, and the match was decided in a 10-point third-set tiebreak. Pham narrowly sealed it 10-8, closing out the dual in tight fashion.

The Golden Hurricane will look to recover going into next weekend when they head to New York for matches with Binghampton (2-4) and Cornell (5-1) on Feb. 21.
