Distance and Hurdles Lead Tulsa at Arkansas Spring Invite

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Tulsa track turned in a competitive showing at the Arkansas Spring Invitational on Saturday, securing four podium finishes.

On the women's side, Tulsa stacked results in the 200 meters, led by Alexis Cavin's seventh-place finish in 23.89. Kamree Dye (12th, 24.24) and Isabella Famigletti (19th, 24.53) added depth, while Cahsia Page and Annie-May Cannings also placed inside the top 40. Cannings returned in the 400 meters to lead the Golden Hurricane with a sixth-place finish in 54.70.

In the middle distances, Tulsa made a strong statement in the invitational 800 meters with three top-10 finishes. Hannah Taylor paced the group with a third-place run of 2:09.62, followed closely by Billie Rouse in sixth (2:10.69) and Grace MacDonald in 10th (2:11.81). Sarah Hosey added a 17th-place finish.

The distance crew continued the momentum in the 3000 meters, where Alexandra Johnson placed fourth in 10:11.94, while Sylvia Schwedler (9th) and Makenzie Crum (12th) each secured top-15 finishes.

To close out the women's side, Jaylin VonWald clocked a 1:03.10 in the 400-meter hurdles, and Tulsa added top-10 relay finishes in both the 4x100 (10th, 46.60) and 4x400 (10th, 3:52.50).

For the men, Joseph O'Connell led the way with a runner-up finish in the 3000 meters, crossing in 8:24.31, while Graham Mitchell followed in fourth at 8:36.81. Colin Madison added a podium finish of his own, placing third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.37.

In the middle-distance events, Ayden Taylor secured a second-place finish in the 1500 meters (3:55.16), while James Knockton ran to seventh in the invitational section (3:51.49). Richard Matthews added a 12th-place finish in the invitational 800 meters.

The sprint group saw Tyler Priest lead Tulsa in both the 100 meters (18th, 10.80) and 200 meters (30th, 21.92), while Harrison Stapleton recorded a 21st-place finish in the 200 (21.36). Xander Rhymes paced the 400 meters in 50.37.

Tulsa closed out the meet with a ninth-place finish in the men's 4x400 relay, clocking a 3:13.70.

The Golden Hurricane will continue outdoor action April 16-18 at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif.
