  • Ryan Switzer enters the 2025 season as the wide receivers coach and the pass game coordinator at the University of Tulsa. He is currently in his third season at TU.
  • The former NFL receiver and return specialist joined The University of Tulsa football coaching staff in January 2023 as wide receiver coach and recruiting coordinator.
  • Switzer was named Tulsa's interim head coach on November 24 and served in that capacity through the remainder of the 2024 season.
  • Switzer coached Joseph Williams and Kamdyn Benjamin to American Athletic Conference honors in 2024. Williams became the first player in TU history to be named The American Freshman of the Year.
  • Under the guidance of Switzer, Benjamin completed the 2024 season with 70 catches for 822 yards and six touchdowns. He led The American in receptions and was third in yards. Benjamin also had a punt return for a touchdown during the season.
  • After retiring from the NFL in July 2022, Switzer joined the coaching ranks.
  • A native of Charleston, West Virginia, Switzer made his NFL debut with the Cowboys on Sept. 10, 2017. He was traded to Oakland in the spring of 2018 and then to Pittsburgh before the 2018 campaign. He spent two seasons with the Steelers and one year with Cleveland before announcing his retirement.
  • He was the Dallas Cowboys' fourth-round draft choice in 2017 and has also played for the Oakland Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Cleveland Browns.
  • Switzer played collegiately at North Carolina, where he caught 244 passes for 2,907 yards and 19 touchdowns in his four seasons (2013-16). He also returned 99 punts for 1,082 yards and seven TDs.
  • In his senior year, Switzer set a school single-season record with 96 receptions for 1,112 yards and scored six touchdowns. He left North Carolina as the school's all-time leader for career receptions (244), career receiving yards (2,907), career punt return yards (1,082), career punt return touchdowns (7), and single-season receptions (96 in 2016). Switzer's seven career punt return TDs was also an ACC record.
  • One of the most electrifying players in college football, Switzer received All-America honors as a return specialist during his freshman and junior seasons. He was also a three-time all-AAC selection.
  • As a UNC freshman, Switzer led all FBS players in 2013 with an average of 20.9 yards per punt return. He accounted for five punt return touchdowns that year and had 32 receptions for 341 receiving yards and three TDs.
  • Switzer earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science and sports administration from North Carolina in 2016.
  • Switzer and his wife, Gabie, have two children: a son, Christian, and a daughter, Rowan.
