Entering her second season on the University of Tulsa softball staff, Brooke Smart was elevated to the associate head coach position. She will coach outfielders and assist with hitters in this role.
She spent the 2024 season as a volunteer assistant on the Golden Hurricane staff. This is her second tenure on the staff after working as an assistant from 2010-2014. She went on to become a math teacher at Charles Paige High School until coming back to The University of Tulsa in 2019 as a career coach.
Smart is a 2010 graduate of the University of Tulsa, where she starred in the outfield from 2006-09. She led TU to two Conference USA regular and tournament championships and three NCAA Regional appearances. In her four seasons, she made 231 appearances with 239 starts, which are both sixth-best all-time in school history. She remains in the top-10 in career home runs, RBI, total bases and walks.
After finishing her playing career in the spring of 2009, she served as an assistant coach with the Catoosa High School softball team the following fall. While finishing her degree, Smart continued to help the TU softball team as a student-assistant in the fall of 2010. She’d go on to play softball in Germany over the summer before returning as a full-time assistant in September of that year.
