Volleyball Team Drops Three-game Match to San Jose State

San Jose, Calif. - All four freshmen on the University of Tulsa roster led the Golden Hurricane on Saturday night at San Jose State. Unfortunately, it was not enough however as TU lost to SJSU in three games (30-16, 30-12, 30-15) at The Event Center in San Jose, Calif.
The loss was TU's fourth consecutive and third WAC loss of the season. However, all three of TU's conference losses have been to the top three teams in the East division.
Outside hitter Kristin Bailey led the Tulsa attack with seven kills, while fellow freshmen Dana Wedle and Lindsay Eaves added six and five kills, respectively. Setter Vanessa Thon, the fourth TU rookie, recorded 19 assists as well.
The Spartans (11-2, 3-0) outhit TU 46-26 in kills and .383 to (-.019) in hitting percentage. Brianna Blair recorded 20 kills of her own to lead SJSU, while Savannah Smith added 36 assists.
Tulsa (3-6, 0-3) returns to the friendly confines of the Donald W. Reynolds Center on Thursday with a WAC match against Boise State at 7 p.m. The Hurricane then host Hawai'i on Saturday night, following the TU football game, at 7 p.m. TU will then conclude the weekend with a Sunday afternoon matinee against UMKC at 3 p.m.
