TU Women Netters Cruise Past Arkansas-Little Rock, 6-1

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The 49th-ranked TU women's tennis team captured five of six singles matches and the doubles point to cruise past Arkansas-Little Rock, 6-1, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at The University of Tulsa.
With the win, Tulsa improved to 8-4 overall this season and 7-0 at home during the spring 2002 campaign. UALR dropped to 9-4 this season. The Trojans began the season with seven straight victories, but have since stumbled to a 2-4 mark in their last six matches.
TU began the day on a solid note, winning two of three doubles matches for the all-important doubles point. TU's twin-sister tandem of Gabriela and Johanna Zingman played the No. 1 position for the first time and came away with an 8-5 win over Julieta Lillo and Layla Tohme. At the No. 2 spot, junior Aleksandra Durska and sophomore Mariana Barrios teamed up to defeated UALR's Cecilia Poveda and Carmen Torres, 8-2. The Trojans came away with an 8-3 win at the No. 2 doubles spot.
In singles action, Durska won a three-set decision over Lillo at No. 1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, but Poveda defeated senior Jana Sedivec, 6-3, 6-1, to split the top singles spots. However, Tulsa rang up wins at the next four positions, including two three-set victories by Gabriela and Johanna Zingman at No. 3 and 4 slots, respectively, to secure the match and remain undefeated at home in 2002.
