Volleyball Team Drops First Five-Game Match of Season

Corpus Christ, Texas - The University of Tulsa volleyball squad dropped its first five-game match of the season, losing to Texas-Pan American 3-2 (30-22, 30-27, 29-31, 25-30, 15-13) at the Islander Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Sophomore Dana Weddle led the Hurricane attack with 19 kills. She was one of four Hurricane players to record double-digit kills, as fellow sophomores Lindsay Eaves and Kristin Bailey recorded 12 kills apeice. Junior Nathalia Araujo posted 12 kills as well. Setter Vanessa Thon recorded 55 assists and 13 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Arajuo also recorded a double-double with 18 digs.
Tulsa faces Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday night at 5 p.m. The Hurricane is now 11-2 on the season, still the best start in school history. The two hour match was the longest of the season for the Golden Hurricane. Seven of TU's victories have been three-game sweeps.
