Cornell Sweeps Hurricane in Big Red Invitational

Ithaca, N.Y. - Senior Tammy Leuer posted a .714 hitting percentage in Tulsa's match versus Cornell on Friday afternoon, however it was not enough as the Golden Hurricane lost for only the third time this season, 3-0 (30-27, 31-29, 30-28). The match was part of the Big Red Invitational, hosted by Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y.
Sophomores Dana Weddle and Lindsay Eaves led the Hurricane attack for the fifth consecutive match by recording eight kills apeice. Fellow sophomore Vanessa Thon posted 27 assists, as junior Nathalia Araujo contributed a team-high seven digs. For the match the Hurricane posted a team hitting percentage of .178, the second lowest of the season. Tulsa is 0-3 in 2002 when it hits under .200 as a team.
Playing in its second match in as many days, Tulsa will have two more matches on Saturday. TU returns to action on Saturday, when it will face Niagara at 10 a.m., before concluding the tournament against Seton Hall at 5:30 p.m.
