BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Aaron Haynes scored a career-high 30 points and Bryan Defares added 24 points as Boise State ended a three-game losing streak by beating Tulsa 78-74 Saturday night.
Haynes and Defares scored 31 of Boise State's final 33 points, including four free throws in the final 17 seconds by Haynes.
Haynes, who surpassed his career high of 24 points he scored two nights earlier in the Broncos' loss to Rice, added a career-high nine rebounds for Boise State (9-7 overall, 3-3 Western Athletic Conference).
With 1:21 remaining and the Broncos protecting a 68-67 lead, Defares scored six points on a 3-point play and three free throws to increase Boise State's lead to 74-69 to help hold off a furious comeback attempt by the Golden Hurricane (10-4, 3-2).
Tulsa's Dante Swanson, who led the visitors with 20 points, hit a jump shot and added a 3-pointer with 12 seconds remaining to cut Boise State's lead to 76-74, but Haynes hit the last two of his free throws with 9 seconds left to seal the win.
Defares' 3-point basket with 11:28 remaining gave Boise State a 50-48 lead and the Broncos never trailed again, although Tulsa twice cut its deficit to a single point in the final 3:50.
Charlie Davis scored 16 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for Tulsa and Kevin Johnson added 13 points. Jason Ellis scored 8 of his 10 points in the second half for Boise State.
