Tulsa Women Fall to Virginia Commonwealth, 5-2

Tulsa, Okla. - The 52nd-ranked Tulsa women's tennis team fell, 5-2, to 23rd-ranked Virginia Commonwealth on Friday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on The University of Tulsa campus.
Tulsa's 30th-ranked doubles tandem, Alicia Pillay and Aleksandra Durska, were upset by 57th-ranked Silvia Urickova and Barbora Zahnova, 8-6 at the top doubles slot. Zoe Buhagiar and Daniela Muscolino, on the other hand, earned an 8-6 victory at the No. 3 doubles position, over VCU's Marina Escobar-Martinez and Ana Franco-Lopez. The Golden Hurricane also fell at the No. 2 slot, losing the doubles point.
In singles competition, Tulsa's 8th-ranked Pillay earned a victory over Christina Arribas as Arribas retired after the first set, falling 6-0, ret. Also for Tulsa, Durska defeated Urickova, 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 slot. The Golden Hurricane, was unsuccessful however, dropping the last four singles matches in straight sets. TU posts a 5-6 record this spring.
