Tulsa, Okla. - The Golden Hurricane recorded its second and third shutouts of the season on Saturday with a 3-0 (30-28, 30-28, 30-11) victory over Grambling State and a 3-0 (30-17, 30-19, 30-24) victory over UNC Wilmington in the Ewing-Grover Olds/GMC Truck Invite presented by Adam's Mark Hotel.

In the final match of the tournament, the Golden Hurricane used a 63-37 advantage in kills, while hitting over .400 as a team for the first time this season. The Hurricane's juniors again led the way as Kristin Bailey and Lindsay Eaves posted 18 and 11 kills, respectively. Vanessa Thon posted 51 assists to go along with 12 digs, for her fourth double-double of the season.

Tulsa out hit the Lady Tigers of Grambling in all three games, however hitting and serving errors thwarted many Hurricane rallies in the first two games of the match. The third and final stanza was all Tulsa, however. TU utilized a .438-.000 advantage in the team hitting percentage for the 19-point win.

Sophomore Sam Rutherford did not commit an error, in route to a match-best 11 kills and three aces. Junior Patricia Marques and freshman Amy Meyer also posted 10 kills apiece for the Hurricane. Sophomore Evyn Bandy recorded 40 assists and 13 digs for her second double-double of the year. Senior Nathalia Araujo added 11 digs, for her seventh double-digit performance of the season.

In the other match of the day, Texas-San Antonio swept GSU 3-0 (30-17, 30-18, 30-28). Freshman Megan Daniel once again the Roadrunner attack with 14 kills. Fellow freshman DeeDee Strickland also posted a match-high 35 assists, while junior Katy Barnett added 10 digs. Grambling's Krystal Credit posted 20 digs, while Latasha Smith added 12 kills in a losing effort.

Eaves was named the tournament's MVP, while Thon and Rutherford also earned spots on the all-tournament. UTSA's Terri Fry and DeeDee Strikland and UNCW's Jennifer Mais were named to the all-tournament team as well.

Tulsa will travel to the Big Easy for a trio of matches in the Tulane Tournament on Sept. 19-20, in New Orleans, La.
