Volleyball Drops WAC Match to Fresno State

Fresno, Calif. - The University of Tulsa volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (32-30, 34-32, 30-11) decision to the Bulldogs of Fresno State at the North Gym in Fresno, Calif. The Golden Hurricane posted 17 kills in the first game, while holding Fresno to only 12. However eight hitting errors for TU, compared to only five for FS, in the first stanza proved too much to overcome. For the match, Fresno State held a slight edge in kills 52-51.
Senior Nathalia Araujo led the Tulsa attack with 12 kills. She also recorded a team-best 14 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. Junior Vanessa Thon posted 37 assists to go along with 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Thon also recorded a match-high three service aces.
The Golden Hurricane return to the friendly confines of the Donald W. Reynolds Center on Thursday, Oct. 2, as TU hosts UTEP at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 4, Tulsa will host Boise State at 3 p.m. Admission on Saturday will be free with a ticket to the TU/Hawaii football game.
