San Jose, Calif. - Sophomore Joyce Silva posted a career-best 36 kills against San Jose on Wednesday night. However the Spartans won the fifth and deciding game to take the match, 3-2 (27-30, 30-9, 25-30, 30-21, 16-14) before a crowd of 145 at The Event Center in San Jose.

With 15 digs, Silva posted her fourth double-double of the season. She has reached double-figures for kills in all but two matches this season. Senior Lindsay Eaves also reached the double-figure kill plateau for the 11th time in the last 12 matches with 12 kills. Junior Sam Rutherford also contributed 12 kills, as the Golden Hurricane enjoyed a 75-51 advantage in kills. However, SJSU capitalized on 48 TU hitting errors, 15 service errors, nine reception errors and three ball-handling errors.

Senior Vanessa Thon posted 60-assists for the second time this season, while junior Evyn Bandy recorded a match-high 27 digs. Bandy leads the conference in digs during WAC play, as she is the only player to have more than 150 digs during league contests (154). Thon is the only WAC setter to post 400 assists during league contest at this point of the season as well.

Tulsa will travel to Honolulu to face the No. 3 nationally-ranked Wahine of Hawai`i on Friday night at the Stan Sheriff Center. The Hurricane will have two more road matches before returning to the friendly confines of the Donald W. Reynolds Center on Nov. 6 to host UTEP.
