Tulsa Falls Short Against UTEP

EL PASO, Texas (AP) - Fili Rivera scored 13 of his 20 points in the second half as Texas-El Paso beat Tulsa 78-66 Saturday night.
Rivera was 8-of-13 from the floor and had six rebounds and four steals for UTEP (17-4, 8-3 WAC). Roy Smallwood added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Miners.
Anthony Price led Tulsa (7-14, 3-9) with 14 points. Jarius Glenn and Charles Ramsdell scored 10 points apiece. Tulsa's leading scorer, Jason Parker was held to eight points on 3-of-14 shooting.
UTEP led 41-33 at halftime, then Rivera scored eight points in a 12-2 run to open the second half. The Miners built the lead up to 57-37 midway through the half and were never threatened.
Omar Thomas scored 14 points for the Miners and Jason Williams added 12.
