TU Women's Tennis Dominates at Hurricane Invitational

Tulsa, Okla. - The TU women's tennis team finished competition at the three day Hurricane Invitational by doing as they had done all weekend long, dominating their opponents. Freshman Carla Zabaleta went undefeated in the three-day tournament, finishing with a 5-0 combined doubles and singles record, after defeating Liz Bingier (ISU) in three sets, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Santie Delport, Lisette Pereira, and Tiffany Smith used two sets each for wins over their opponents. Delport defeated Carolyne Parent (ISU) 6-3, 6-2, Pereira won 6-2, 6-4 over Laura Gravino (ISU), and Smith posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Veronique Park-Bedard (ISU).
Timberly Greenly needed three sets to defeat Ashley Maxwell (ISU), 5-7, 6-2, 6-3. It also took three sets for Kindsay Grimes to beat Emilie Sechaud (ISU) 2-6, 6-0, 7-5.
TU's Daniela Muscolino hoped to take over sole position of 11th place on the school's all-time wins list with a win on Sunday against Katri Miller (ISU) but had to withdraw from the match due to illness.
The Golden Hurricane women's tennis team returns to action at the All-American Hard Court tournament in Los Angles, Calif., October 2-10.
