Tulsa Women's Tennis Begins Season With a Win

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team defeated St. Louis University in its first match of the spring season, 6-1, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. St. Louis jumped out to a 1-0 lead after winning two of the three doubles matches. The Team of Timberly Greenly and Carla Zabaleta defeated Tana Grant and Tina Grasso, 8-1, for TU's only win.
In singles action, TU was more dominant as they won all six matches with only one going to the third set. Daniela Muscolino, currently ranked 50th by the ITA, defeated Katrina Lozanova, 6-1, 6-2, to pick up her 54th career win. Santie Delport was taken three sets with Amanda Hellberg, but came out on top 6-7 (6), 6-3, 10-4. Freshman Carla Zabaleta defeated Ana Renda, 6-2, 6-1.
Lisette Pereira, Timberly Greenly and Agostina Santoro picked up the other three wins for TU.
The Golden Hurricane women return to action Saturday evening against cross-town rival Oral Roberts at 8 p.m.
